Vicki Wolfrum

Ms. Wolfrum spent her early adult years in Switzerland and worked in the hotel business. Having her first son with a midwife in Switzerland introduced her to her professional calling. As a Certified Nurse Midwife and a Certified Lactation Consultant for 30 years, she has dedicated her professional life to helping families have a happy and healthy start.

She was a partner at the Los Angeles Childbirth Center, when they opened one of the first out of hospital birth centers in 1984 and later in 1987, founded a holistic family health and birth center called South Bay Family Care. In her thriving midwifery practice she attended over 100 births each year.

After moving to San Diego in 1993 she was asked by Palomar Pomerado Health Systems to help develop a midwifery based peri-natal access program for women without insurance.   After that program was running smoothly, she moved closer to home and as nurse midwife for North County Health Services attended many births at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas.  While at NCHS she developed a special program for mothers with gestational diabetes.  She retired in 2005, to build a beach house in Mexico.  After completing that project, she returned to work at Scripps, as a lactation consultant.  For 30 years she has taught childbirth and parenting classes and for the last 10 years a sexual education course called Our Whole Lives for middle and high school students at the Unitarian Fellowship.

Vicki is now the CEO and founder of Whole Life Home Care, the first holistic home care agency in San Diego.  Her agency provides in home care for all ages and all stages, caring for families with newborn babies all the way up to seniors in their nineties.  Their unique care combines the best of both worlds, integrating complimentary therapies with traditional home care.  Vicki is also a frequent speaker and workshop leader.

Vicki and her husband Jim are the parents of 5 children and 9 grandchildren.  Her two youngest children now 16 and 18 enrolled in SFMS in 1993 and both continued through the 6th grade.  Two of her grandchildren are currently enrolled in the elementary.  Throughout her 15 year association with the school she has volunteered in many capacities including as president of the parent association, chair person for the annual fund raiser, elementary trip organizer and as stage manager/costumer for many of the school musical productions.  As a board member she is dedicated to honoring the many wonderful traditions that make SFMS unique and to help the school grow and prosper.
