Teresita Leimer, M.Ed.
At the age of sixteen I came
across a magazine article about the Montessori method and knew immediately that
it was the career for me. The summer after graduating from college, I entered a
training program for the Children’s House and have never looked back!
In the intervening 33 years, I
have covered a lot of territory in Montessori education. I’ve been trained and
have taught at all three age levels: 3 to 6, 6 to 9, 9 to 12, in private
schools across the country. In the public Montessori sector, I helped establish
and run a training center that graduated dozens of teachers across the country
over a four-year period. I’ve taught lower elementary in public urban settings
on both coasts and have now made my way back to a private school in Fallbrook,
where I am administrator as well as elementary teacher.
Montessori education is my life. I
strive every day to engender in children a thoughtful, inquisitive, and joyful
interaction with our world and the people in it. I am pleased to be a member of
the Board of Santa Fe Montessori School to share my insights and learn from
your experiences as well.
