About the Artist
Lorrie Lochow
earned a B.A. in Art with an emphasis in graphic design and illustration from
San Diego State University. She has 25 years experience in the areas of
furniture design, visual display, product design, cover art, book illustration,
drawing, painting and teaching. Her first works in print making were
purchased by the Oklahoma City Art Gallery. Lorrie has been the assistant
teacher in Room 4 for six years. She founded Outside the Box- Art
Exploration for Young Children, My Pretend Soup and Natures Art Gardening
classes. Workshops attended include PACE (Professional Association for
Childhood Education); on the value of art in early education and Art Therapy,
The Art Academy of San Diego class in art technique, and water color study with
Thia Nevias of The Bishop’s School and Athenaeum Music of Arts Library in La
Jolla. Lorrie has held two Outside the Box art exhibits at the Joseph
Bellows Gallery in La Jolla. In 2007 and 2008 she created the cover art
for the SFMS year book. Lorrie is devoted to fostering creative thinking
and positive self-esteem through various art techniques for the children at
SFMS.
