3 years to 6 years of age
In order to develop concentration, coordination and self-discipline, as well as social, academic and creative activities, children in early years require an abundance of hands-on activities to explore with their minds and muscles.
The Children's House curriculum leads to the happy and healthy development of the "Whole Child." Observe our classrooms and you will see young children growing daily in self-confidence through their work with the Practical Life Exercises - materials that promote concentration, self-control and self-reliance.
Young children enjoy exploring the characteristics of color, size, weight, sound, smell and taste through the beautiful and brilliantly-conceived Sensorial Materials. 3,4,5, and 6 years olds discover phonetic sounds, building single syllable words to multi-syllable words, reading counting and working on the arithmetic system.
When you visit the school you will see children relating to one another and their teachers with love, respect, trust and a sense of responsibility. There is a warm feeling of community that the children feel towards one another.
Creative expressions is woven into the fabric of each classroom in such a way that children develop their academic and artistic abilities simultaneously.
One of the greatest benefits of the Children's House program is that children who enter the program at three years of age remain in the same classroom with the same team of teachers for three full years. The child is thus provided with the security and consistency so important at this stage of development. Likewise, parents and teachers have ample opportunity to develop a close working relationship of behalf of the child.
The multi-age nature of the Children's House classroom offers each child the experience of mentoring and being mentored by their peers. Encouraging children to learn from one another helps build self-esteem, social skills, and a sense of responsibility.
